I also won this book in the Giveaway program. I read it in two days. Ms. Campbell is a good writer, and this novel shows her skill in writing a complex novel with a very engaging plot. Most of the characters were well developed, and as a reader I understood their motivations. My only quibble is with her villain and the villain's mother. I found myself wishing for more information about why these two people were so dysfunctional. The story kept me interested, and I read until nearly two a.m. last night trying to finish. I don't do that too often, but I really wanted to know what happened. I highly recommend this good read. This review was written for LibraryThing Member Giveaways. I won this book in the Giveaway program. This was an excellent book that I found myself staying up too late in order to finish it! I found the strong female character to be endearing as well as the way the author delicately kept the plot flowing. This would be a great book to take on vacation with you. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha

Preston was a nasty piece of work but he kept me page turning in a macabre way. I still want to know what made him so hateful and twisted. Margot is quite clear about him always having been that way and having tried multiple times when they were children to kill her with Blake being the only thing that stood in his way. So, I wondered what happened to make him that way. It’s not answered but I hope there’s some further insight in the next book (which I have on my desk to read). I’m still not sure how I feel about what is hinted at as his fate and I really didn’t know what to do with the “mystical sapphire” turn but still, I enjoyed reading this story for the most part. The scene setting was well done & gave a clear picture of Seattle at the time. I’d recommend this to anyone looking for another series to get into. It’s a fairly quick read & engaging enough to breeze through on the weekend. A 3.5 star read for me.
