( ) PamS76 | Feb 17, 2021 | I enjoyed this book; have always been a fan of John Grisham and particularly like his stories about the South. Growing up in the Pacific Northwest we really had no exposure at all to the race issues of the South. Then I lived in Arkansas and Alabama during my career and I saw how things are different. Grisham's books give us a dose of the painful reality of how things were in the past, how they have improved and how we still have a long way to go. A front was moving through and Seth was soaked when they found him, not that it mattered. taurus27 | Jan 16, 2021 | I really loved A Time to Kill and was happy to revisit Jake Brigance - but I didn't really enjoy this one as much. Maybe because it was a civil case about a contested will and not quite as attention grabbing as the events in A Time to Kill. Also, I found it hard to rate this because I hated the stereotypical racial biases and white savior theme but I recognize that the story is the story and has to be presented through the eyes of the characters.
