The prince has to go retrieve 3 magic stallions as his step mother has put a deadly spell on him and him unto her. He helps a lady trick the giant and encounters some adventure to get away safely. He returns to his stepmom with the 3 magic stallions and both of their spells are released. ( ) This book does not have any awards. This book is good for 1st graders and second graders because the book is quite wordy and the story is a little complex so any grade younger would not be able to follow the story or have the attention span to follow the story. This Irish tale is about a young prince who is challenged by his step mother to bring back these 3 stallions. Now the way it works in Ireland is that if you challenge someone, they get to challenge you with something else. so the prince challenged his step mother to stay outside with the chickens until he comes back with the horses. So he ends up finding these horses and the only way to take them is if he gets permission from the owner to take them. Now the owner isnt an ordinary man, he is an evil giant. The giant ties the prince up and the only way he would let him go is if he tells him a story. The brave prince tells the giant a story and the giant lets him take his horse back to his step mother. His step mother learned her lesson and gained some humility as she carried out her challenge and they all lived happily ever after. This Irish tale deals with responsibility, adversity, team work and good verse evil. This book can be a good book to start a lesson teaching them responsibility. The prince knew he had to do his end of the challenge in order to release his step mother of her challenge. So we can discuss the importance of responsibility and then we can give out jobs in the classroom and talk about how the people with the jobs have to be as responsible as the prince was. The second graders can make up their own tale and write it down and then make puppets to act out their tale. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
