Few books on alternative medicine have the research or clarity that Beyond Aspirin has. There are a few pleas to pathos arguments that I found unnecessary, but overall it uses good references. Schulick is one of the founders of New Chapter, a natural supplement company. Despite being "entrenched in industry" he at least presents his reasons in a clearly defined manner for why he chose the specific herbs for one of his key formulations. Though it is never stated outright, this book is the basis for the Zyflamend formula. One might find this somehow deceptive, but research that isn't industry dominated and paid for is next to impossible, whether it be nutraceutical or pharmaceutical. It still makes good sense to read this book, even if most "alternative" medicine is woo woo to you.
