This series is only for the true CLAMP fan - if you don't know what that means, then you probably won't enjoy these collector items. Basically a survey of all the work that the manga team CLAMP had written to that date, with lots of full-page illustrations, excerpts from the various manga, and interviews. This first entry is all about Cardcaptor Sakura, which happens to be one of my favorite series, and comes with three collector chess pieces. I have to admit, the chess pieces are what sold me on such an overpriced package. They are too adorable! I did enjoy reading the interviews, and it was interesting to hear what the ladies had in mind when they were penning plots and characters. Reading this makes you want to go out and read the original series (which is surely what the creators had in mind). Lovely production value throughout, from cover to layout to illustrations. The only bit I could have done without is the new manga at the end, which is mildly interesting in that it portrays some of the personal lives of the writers, but doesn't show us any of their created characters as I was hoping.
