I have a few friends on GR who gave this one 4-4.5 stars. But for me it was a solid 5 stars. I absolutely loved both main characters Lucas & Kathryn. Lucas was definitely charming. His Irish brogue and sense of humor is captivating. I loved that neither he nor Kathryn were immediately 'He/She is MINE', but realistically fought against the it. Neither of them wanted to change their lives so drastically as to have a permanent relationship. Each had their own reasons and fought their deeper feelings in different ways. There were 2 main events going on. Lucas is having problems with another Vampire Lord which has become an all out war. Kathryn works for the FBI, but is using her vacation to search for her missing brother. It was interesting how different this was written from the previous stories. No cookie cutter writing for D.B. Reynolds, and it really showed in this one. The way everything unfolded was completely different from all her previous stories in this series. The suspense of the war & the mystery of Kathryn's missing brother kept me completely absorbed in the story. The romance was adult, passionate, lightly erotic and often amusing. I am not going to do a long review of this book but I thought I should explain my low rating. I think this series is getting boring and repetitive and I struggled with trying to finish this book. I did finish it finally...only took me four days when I usually finish a book this size within a day. I am done with the series. I'm trying to read as fast as I can to add to my 2012 Reading List. I'm hoping to add one more before the end of this year. Curse you, slow reading skills! you thwart me at every turn. D.B. Reynolds is one of my favorite vampire romance authors, so naturally I enjoyed this book. That said, there were sections that seemed a little rushed to me, especially when the hero professes his love early on (I thought it should've taken a little longer.) and toward the end while wrapping up a plot thread. (Sorry, no spoilers.) But that said, I really did like this hero. I've read a few reviews that compare Lucas to Raphael. Other than their good looks, I don't think that's accurate. They have VERY different personalities and temperaments. The story is about the heroine's search for her brother, while a vampire war is raging. Not the most ideal moment to meet and fall in love, but I've never known anyone who's been able to 'pick' that moment IRL. ;) If you like Jeaniene Frost, then you'll enjoy D.B. Reynolds. Lucas Donlan is the Vampire Lord of the Midwest. He's about to start a war with the Lord whose territory abuts his own when Kathryn Hunter, an FBI agent, shows up looking for her missing brother. Lucas is charming, but I didn't think his chemistry with Kathryn was all that great. She's fine, a stereotypical button-up government agent, but the two together didn't really gel in my opinion. The book has two different storylines and it would have been better with just one as neither got enough attention. Daniel, the missing brother, and his part of the story was more of an afterthought, just a device to get Kathryn out of DC and out to South Dakota. I also agree with some other reviews that the book needed some more editing for inconsistencies. I noticed several things that took me out of the story. It was okay, but not up to par with the first few books of the series. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha

HTML: The badlands of South Dakota...haunting landscapes, legendary outlaws, and...vampires? Lucas Donlon, Vampire Lord, is one of the most powerful vampires in North America and beyond. Charming and irreverent to his friends and lovers, he enjoys everything about his life as a vampire. But when a neighboring lord makes the mistake of declaring war, he quickly discovers that Lucas is every bit as lethal as he is charming. Kathryn Hunter doesn't care about powerful vampires or their wars. Her baby brother is missing, and she will do anything to find him, even if it means going against both her FBI bosses and the local vampire lord. But Lucas Donlon has other plans for the lovely FBI agent who's landed on his doorstep. Waging war against their enemies and each other, Lucas and Kathryn will risk everything to keep the most deadly vampire war in hundreds of years from engulfing every vampire and human in North America. .Não foram encontradas descrições de bibliotecas. |
