This was the last Encyclopedia Brown book Donald Sobol wrote. I am happy to say it delivers the same quality solvable mystery stories kids for generations have loved. They were also more solvable than before, in part because I am an adult, and in part because there aren’t as many obscure and time/era specific references. This collection contains stories about friendly watch dogs, jelly beans, the titular soccer scheme and an April Fool’s Day case, among others. I would recommend this to any kid who is very inquiring. Kids who ask lots of questions are the ones who are the best at solving Sobol’s brain twisters. I’d also suggest it to any reader who is interested in mysteries and puzzles. ( )
