Throughout this book, it explains a lot about dinosaurs, from how we know they existed to how dinosaurs end up in museums. After the dinosaurs are in the museum, The Cat in the Hat then describes a couple dinosaurs, with how to pronounce their name, and characteristics about each of them. I enjoyed this book because of the of the easy explanations and the extra call outs. On each page about a new dinosaur, there is an easy explanation on how to say the specific dinosaur’s name. For example, the first dinosaur breaks the name down to explain it as “ANG- kih- luh- saw- rus”. This is great to help the younger readers who want to know about these dinosaurs! I also enjoyed the call outs that helped go into more detail for the readers that wanted to know more. For example, the call out on the Tyrannosaurus Rex page explains that they were carnivores and then also goes on to explain what a carnivore is. I believe the main message of this book is to inform children about different types of dinosaurs and how we know about them. The book “Oh Say Can You Say Dinosaur?” is a fun informational book about dinosaurs. It is a Cat in the Hat book that teaches children about the pre-historic time. The book starts about telling what fossils are and how we know how they are and what dinosaur they belong to. Then the two children in the book go to a museum and learn how to say different dinosaur’s names and facts about them. The book covers lots of different dinosaurs and compares them to things children are familiar with so it will be easier for children to realize their size. This book is very fun and full of fun information about dinosaurs. This book does rhyme and I think it makes it easier to remember the facts and names of the dinosaurs. I love that when you read the book you get to go on a little adventure with The Cat in the Hat to discover the different dinosaurs. And I think what makes this book unique is that it breaks the name of the dinosaur down and puts the name into the rhyming, this makes it easier to pronounce the name properly. Classroom extensions: 1. If the class is learning about science they can read this book and then do a fossil dig, prepared in advance, and try to name their dinosaur. 2. After the book is read the students could make a chart of different herbivories and carnivores and chart their characteristics, height, food, size, etc. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
