The war is on...
Counted among the fiercest Andarion warriors ever born, Hauk is one of the five founding members of the Sentella: an organization that has declared war on the League. They rule the Ichidian universe with an iron fist and terrify it with an army of well-trained assassins. Hauk's enemies are legion, but he fears nothing and no one. He will do whatever it takes to survive and protect his Sentella brethren.
Sumi Antaxas is one of the best assassins the League has ever trained. In her world, failure is not an option and she has never met a target she couldn't execute. So when she's assigned Hauk, she believes it'll be a quick and easy mission.
But nothing is ever as simple as it seems, and Hauk is far better skilled than any she's faced before, in Born of Fury from #1 Bestselling Author Sherrilyn Kenyon.

Listened to audio narrated well by Fred Berman. This starts with Sumi, a League Assassin, plans to gain Haulk's trust to acquire info so his enemies can have him killed. I laughed a lot reading this one. The bickering and grousing were completely adorable. The ease of which they fight and love. Sumi quickly realizes Haulk is not the bad man she previously believed and falls for him hard. Her allegiance changes and they have to face several hurdles for them to be together, while dodging assassins and those wanting them dead. Loved seeing all the couples from previous books come to help this couple. Lots of emphasis on how family is just by blood. ( )

As the last warrior male of his family, it's his responsibility to take his nephew on his endurance test but the idea of spending 6 weeks with him is enough to make him want to shoot himself. He doesn't need the young boys bitterness and hatred towards him to know guilt and a heavy heart over the memory that the hero was responsible for his brothers death. And to top off the hero's impending doom is the daughter of his leader is coming along as well. One night, after a heavy day of constant bickering and utter nonsense, they find a badly injured female in the forest and bring her back to camp. The hero instantly knows who she is. She's a league assassin and he knows that he must kill her but he finds himself unable to complete the task. The heroine is a woman commended to the life she lives and does it to save her 3 year old baby daughter whom was stolen from her. She's not a very good assassin and is too kind hearted and soft to carry out the task of betraying the hero. She keeps the fact that she's actually a spy to herself in the hopes that the information she gathers will earn her back her daughter. But as the hero and heroine grow closer, the hero makes a pledge to return the little girl to her mother and the heroine comes clean. He's betrothed to his brothers widow as his races custom demands but can't seem to keep him hands off the woman. I will say that this book started off very slowly and I found myself skipping pages to prevent myself from just abandoning it all together. The amount of pointless and useless conversation going on between all the characters about customs and rituals was enough to make my head ache. It was too much. The facts were all jammed into the story and most of them were rather stupid or stolen from Game of Thrones. I really dislike the authors tendency to make strong warrior males into dramatic pussies. Oh my god, the man droned on and on about how unworthy he was or his the fact that he's been through worse. There's vulnerability to a character which creates insight into their personality and therefore breaking down some of those walls, and then there are woe is me characters who are just looking for attention. I prefer the former. That being said, the story did pick up after the half way mark when they actually left the damn planet and battled more enemies than the bloody Incas! But I felt the romance between the characters was waaay to fast and rather flat. They were in love with each other after like chapter 6, even when knowing that the heroine was planning to betray him and that the hero didn't trust her. Overall I was rather disappointed with this book. Also it was far too long. No romance novel should be over 500 pages, especially when the plot is basic and lifeless. ( )

This might be my favorite book in the series so far. ( )

Hauk decides to take his nephew, who hates him, Darice and Thia, his friend's daughter on a trip, along the way they encounter Sumi, who is there to try to find dirt on him and his friends and sparks start to fly.

I liked it, still tired of the huge man versus tiny woman trope but I can mostly ignore it for this story. Liked the characters and loved the woman on woman fight scene.

Somewhat mindless entertainment but good popcorn read. ( )

I really enjoy reading SciFi Romance, but I have found few that I've loved. Of the ones I have found The League is my favorite. I love Hauk and Sumi's story. I've been hoping Hauk would get his own book since his first appearance. Secondary character Thia is pretty bad ass. I hope she gets her own book. Like the books before it, Born of Fury is sexy, heartwarming and dangerous. An excellent read.

I highly recommend this series. The League is quite an intricate world with amazing characters. If you're wanting to check this series out, definitely start at the beginning with with Born of Night.

Born of Fury is narrated by actor, Fred Berman. He does an excellent job bringing all the members of the Sentella to life. Each one unique.
