The book starts in New Orleans and takes a trip to the Caribbean before ending up in England. ( ) The third book in the Beau Monde series. Determined to protect her disabled young brother, Lisette Lavigne along with her brother and cousin escape her fiancé in the dead of night to locate Captain Daniel Hillary and convince him to take them aboard his ship, away from New Orleans, and to safety in England. Roguish Captain Daniel Hillary has just broken up with his mistress and can't wait to set sail when Lisette finds him. His rule of never allowing women on board his ship is about to be broken... I haven't read the other titles in this series and this one stood fine on it's own. A good, easy romance read for a rainy day. First time I paid any attentions to our hero was in the scene in which Jake, his brother, walks in on him while he ‘had his butter churned’! Well, how can I not be interested in a man like that and in a woman that would bring him to heel? As the story opens, we follow our heroine Lisette Lavigne as she escapes her fiancé in the middle of the night, with her family in tow and in a search of Captain Daniel Hillary, who she hopes will take them to England and to safety. Captain Daniel Hillary is drop dead gorges and a scoundrel who loves two simple pleasures in life, a woman’s supple curves and his Indiaman ship, not necessarily in that order. He’s just given his mistress her marching orders and is looking forward to leaving New Orleans when Lisette, all dressed in black and impersonating a widow, confronts him. We've met Daniel in the previous books and I wondered about the woman Ms. Grace would give him. He certainly needed a strong counterpart but I also wanted someone that has charm and wit. Lis, as he keeps calling her, was a perfect match for him. This young woman proved to be made of stern stuff, yet when it came to .....thanks so much for heading over to read the rest of my review at http://rcjrezine.com/?page_id=20&book_id=272 Five quills for sure! Glad to give them all for this awesome read! REVIEW: This piece did not disappoint! It’s no secret that I’m a fan of Historicals and I’ve read quite a few. This piece took on a whole new approach to the typical historical you come in contact with. I love the spin the author put on this and think it was on key to be set on ship. The lovely humor went a long way from taking away from the tremor riding in the background. There was a lot of drama, but well placed at that. I think both characters were very well built and I felt the attraction building as I read. The only reason I gave this 4 and ½ stars was due to the fact that at times, it seemed as if the book had a lull to it. Some extra words in the sentences seemed to confuse me to the point where I had to read it over and over again. However, this piece is a great read I’d recommend to anyone. If you’re looking for a spin on a crazy, romantic ride – this is the book for you. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
