Jaden Terrell writes a fine mystery located in and around Nashville, TN. She's a competent storyteller with an eye for imagery and dialogue. Her main character (Jared McKean) was a little over the top for me (the combination of rough around the edges cowboy and social liberal was a little too unique for my tastes), and he didn't really seem to have any flaws other than the fact that fate hates his guts and won't let anything work out for him ever. But the narrative was good enough to keep me engaged and allow me to enjoy the story enough to give it 4 stars. ( )Esta resenha foi escrita no âmbito dos Primeiros Resenhistas do LibraryThing. I found the characters riveting. They have strengths and faults, are well-developed. The plot is completely believable and relevant to our world today. The writing has a pace that is quick without feeling rushed. This is the second Jared McKean mystery. I have not read the first, but that wasn't a problem. This book reads well as a stand-alone. After having read this one, I fully intend to go back and read the first. Esta resenha foi escrita no âmbito dos Primeiros Resenhistas do LibraryThing. I had really high hopes for this book. I find that Jared is a very interesting and enjoyable character. The book was dark and an interesting read. I didn’t get into this one as much as Racing the Devil but was still a solid read and I will be anticipating the next book in this series. Esta resenha foi escrita no âmbito dos Primeiros Resenhistas do LibraryThing. A second book in a series is supposed to be better than the first - you know the protagonist, you had started to care so things should work out better, right? Unfortunately this is not the case here. Jared got thrown into even more tragedies and problems. And of course he is always there to help or just to listen to something or just to be there. It starts getting old very fast. And the mystery that is supposed to be in the middle of the story gets shifted to the side. I am not sure if I am interested in reading any more of his novels if any are published - when at book 2, you feel as if the repetitions had started, there is no much point continuing the series... The characters were well described, however, the book read rather like As the World Turns. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
