Another fun story I used in my preschool story time on imagination. So relatable for the age group. ( )

This book is great for young children. It teaches a lesson about giving things a try or even making the statement that you can find fun just about anywhere. The main character in the story is Livi and like many children, she rather play than take a bath. We are introduced to her imaginative world while also taken out when we see her mom is consistently calling for her to come take a bath. In the end, she finally listens and realizes how much fun she can still have in the bath tub when she imagines she's a shark. I think this is a sweet and playful way to teach children not only that baths are okay but that also fun is up to you. ( )

This delightful children's book is one of my 2 1/2-year-old daughter's favorites. We had this book on loan from the library and kept renewing it; when the renewals ran out, we bought it. Unlike the bland heroines of many children's books, Livi (whose reluctant journey to bathtime makes up the plot of this book) is believable and likeable: she's extremely imaginative but also willful and slow to listen, qualities my daughter instantly identified with. My daughter loved this book so much that after only three or four reads, she had already memorized much of the narrative, and she now recites it along with me. She never tires of getting caught up in Livi's imaginary adventures: she especially loves the parts about "Leo and Melly" and the "unsuspecting gopher."* She also gets very excited when Livi's mother begins her "countdown" at the climax of the book--I find it is really fun to "play up" the drama here. Great fun to read aloud, with a heroine my daughter instantly took to--this one is a real winner.

*EDIT: After I read this review to my daughter, she asked me to mention that she also likes when Livi swings on a vine through a jungle. So there you have it. ( )

I laughed and giggled as she went to her bath. The illustrator and the author work well together. I did not think that it was possible to do another great bath book after Moe Willems The Pigeon Needs a Bath but is possible. What a joy. I could read this over and over again. ( )

This is all about a little girl named Livi and all the ways she procrastinates, while using her imagination, to avoid taking a bath. Once in the bath she decides that taking a bath is fun and then avoids getting out of the tub :-)

This is a good book for encouraging the use of imagination... and convincing children that baths are a good thing ;-) ( )
