He wants the one missing a hip socket and can't walk correctly. The store owner tells him he doesn't want him bc he can't ever play correctly. The boy has two braces helping him to walk and says he understands. When a store owner puts up a “puppies for sale” sign in his window, a little boy sees it and comes into the store. “How much are you selling the puppies for?” he asks. The store owner tells the boy the puppies will probably sell for about fifty dollars each. The boy pulls all his money out of his pocket . . . two dollars and thirty-seven cents . . . and asks if he can see the puppies. The store owner whistles and Lady comes, leading her five puppies. But one lags behind. That puppy, the little boy insists, is the one he wants to buy. Heartwarming pictures accompany this inspirational story of a boy and a dog and a special circumstance. Astute readers may have an idea about the ending but that won’t detract from the telling of this heartfelt tale. Read it . . . and bring tissues. Highly recommended. Summary: When one boy understands he does not possess enough money to purchase a puppy, we see him struggle until he finds that one puppy possesses a bad leg just like him. This is a great book about struggle, and overcoming obstacles to get what you want. Personal Reaction: This was a great book that I think is valuable for any child. It encourages that if there is something you want enough, that you will work hard for it. Classroom extensions: I think it would be a great idea for students to draw a pet that has qualities they possess. I think it would be a neat project for students to talk about and work together to create. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
