Mx really liked this book prior to Ms being born and I feel like he embodied the "Quiet and waiting" on the day he met Ms. This book will always have a special place in momma's heart. This story follows Spencer, a young boy who is an only child. He is "wild, strong, funny, and loud". Everything changes for Spencer though. Spencer is now a big brother! Now, instead of being loud and wild, Spencer is showing a more calm side for his new baby sister. With his new sister, he understands that he must be "gentle". The author and illustrator worked very well together through this story. Throughout the book, Spencer was being described by qualities he had as a young boy. For example, "he was free-free as a bird." Instead of the author actually using the word "bird", the illustrator depicted a picture of a bird. This was true through the whole book with all of spencer's traits. The author utilized dashes to create suspense in the story. Repetition was also present throughout this story. Overall, this was a good book that showed how special the birth of a new sibling can be. This is a quick fun way to approach the arrival of a new sibling. Despite the rambuctious beginning and the rebus nature of the story, it winds down both visually and verbally by the end. It encourages the young reader or listener to practice quiet and gentle, as much as the larger than life qualities of a young child. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
