Dolly Parton's "Goodnight with Dolly" YouTube videos are so soothing and I think it's so cool when she sings! https://donate.imaginationlibrary.com/goodnight-with-dolly/

Coat of Many Colors is a sweet story and I love the cozy illustrations.

Coat of Many Colors is an endearing story of a young girl realizing what is important to her. Her mother makes a coat for her, since they are poor and she didn't have one, out of rags donated by someone. The coat is colorful and the girl loves it, since her mother made it and put her love in every stitch. When the girl gets to school she gets bullied because of the coat, but she does not let it get to her, she knows that there are more important things in life than money. This story shows that you can be rich through other means, not just money. The girl is rich in family and love, things more important than money. The only down side of the story is the illustration, as it is a little lifeless. Besides that Coat of Many Colors is a good story, with a fantastic message. ( )

A young girl has no money to buy a winter coat, so her mother sews her one using scraps of fabric from around the house. When the girl is teased at school for her patchwork coat, the little girl tells the other children the love that went into the coat and how one is only poor if they choose to be. I thought this book was sweet and showed that there is more to life than material things. Even if you don't have money, you can still be rich in love and happiness. Dolly Parton is also doing a read aloud series on Youtube so it was fun to listen to her read it. There is also a song that accompanies it which would be cool for kids to listen to. ( )

The song kept running through my head the whole time I was reading it. Beautiful illustrations, although I was a bit surprised at how attractively poverty was depicted (especially contrasted with Dolly's descriptions of her childhood and pictures that I've seen over the years) - but of course, there's a fine line to draw (see what I did there?) in a children's book. This story was about Dolly Parton when she was a child. The story tells about a coat of many colors that Dolly Parton's mother had made for out of different rags. Through the story Dolly is talking about how much she loves her coat of many colors. She talks about wearing the coat to school and the other kids making fun of her. She tries to explain to them that her mother made it for her and the story behind the coat, but they continue to bully. The moral of the story is to show kids to rise above bullying and that its okay to be different. This story helped Dolly write her famous song "Coat Of Many Colors" ( )
