But maybe once I read the actual first book of the series, this prequel will make more sense. This prequel seems to be set in the time between the prologue of book one, when Miranda and Archer meet in the alley, and chapter 1, when Archer returns to London to claim his bride. I’m kind of hoping Billy is still a part of her life in book one. Because if so, this prequel shows how they met and started their strange little partnership. ( ) It's a very short prequel, not even a novella, more like a novelette, so my review will be proportionally short as well. *grinning* My advise is if you haven't read Firelight already, pick up this book first and see if you like the style of the author. If you've read Firelight already I don't think you should bother with Ember. It tells you the same things you found out about Archer and Miranda from Firelight already, but in a little bit more detail and chronologically up to the point of Archer's return to London. So as I said, it's unnecessary to read Ember if you read Firelight already. Ember is a prequel to Firelight, and it gives more juicy details into the story between Lord Archer and Miranda. I was pleased to review both, and you can see my original review of Firelight here. I'll start of by saying like Firelight, Ember is also for an adult audience. There is quite steamy, descriptive love scenes, but this is why I have fallen in love with Kristen Callihan's writing. Combine this with her vivid historical settings, and it's just a clear cut winner. In Ember we learn a bit more about Miranda, and how she came to be who she is: a thief. We also learn of why her heart was broken, and how her father continues to use her. Although she is quite a powerful and talented young woman, Miranda, still feels guilt over burning down the families livelihood. This is a novella, and a quick and enticing read meant to drag you into the full story of Firelight. Ms. Callihan does a great job at it too. If I didn't already own Firelight, I would of ran out and bought it just to keep reading. This is an author to watch out for if you enjoy steamy historical romance! sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
