Great for what it is, an observation of raccoon behavior as seen through the eyes of a naturalist. I agree with others that the pictures are lovely, and I liked the rhythm of the text more than some. I do wish there was a bit about the reaction of the farmer to the coons' destructiveness, and maybe a reference to the fact that coons have been a stable source of protein for pioneers and other people. ( ) I read this book for the assignment on illustrators. This is a lovely story about about raccoons readying for colder weather ahead by harvesting corn in a farmers cornfield. The illustrations are beautifully drawn with shading, which creates shadows and ambience of the night time regimes of these adorable animals. Children will be drawn into the story by the sweet artwork and learn about animal habits in preparation for changing of seasons. Easily fits into themes of autumn, harvest, animals, etc. This is an informational book about raccoons and the corn they eat off of the stock during autumn. It begins by discussing the browning of the corn on the top of the covering. It continues through the event of the mother leading her baby raccoons at nighttime to the cornfield and pulling the corn to the ground. It continues by discussing how the raccoon eats the corn starting with the "green husks." After the raccoons feast on the corn the book tells the reader that raccoons hurry back to the woods at first glimpse of daylight. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
