I was hoping for better - it's an author I like in a series I enjoy - but even though I like the characters nothing really clicked for me. The foreshadowing of his dire secret was a little obvious - I knew pretty much exactly what had happened within the first couple chapters. Their reluctance was pretty much on gender lines - she wanted to know all about him to deal with her feelings for him, he wanted to take her to bed and get her out of his system. Still, they handled the attraction pretty well, and interestingly. It's also an interesting expansion on the series - I'd read both the one before and ones afterward, so I knew a lot of the secondary characters. As I said, not bad - I'll probably read it again, particularly if I'm reading the series in sequence. Not spectacular, not as good as some of hers in her own series, but not bad.
