Interesting Book ( )Esta resenha foi escrita no âmbito dos Primeiros Resenhistas do LibraryThing. An extremely short, partial installment of a superhero book. In this part, we are introduced to Domina, a scantily clad crime-fighter who has the ability to turn anyone into a helpless slave. Her secret identity is the traditional high-powered executive. Really, from what I can tell from this small section, this book is just bad. Domina is an over-powered bombshell with nothing to add in terms of personality. The narrative plunges awkwardly from half-cocked discussions of feminism to extremely vague and fake-sounding board meetings. Nothing has a point. The writing is just so stilted and uneasy. The author has a way of using big words that make you doubts he knows exactly what they mean. Add that to the fact that the author self-censors by blanking out his characters' curse-words. How does that make any sense? The fact that I couldn't even auto-add this book because Library Thing couldn't find a record of it should say plenty about its quality. Give this one a miss. Esta resenha foi escrita no âmbito dos Primeiros Resenhistas do LibraryThing. This was hard to get into. I wasn't very taken with the first 100 pages, so finishing it was arduous. Esta resenha foi escrita no âmbito dos Primeiros Resenhistas do LibraryThing. I read the other reviews and breathed a sigh of relief - it's not just me who found this book as currently written fairly painful to read. I haven't been able to bring myself to finish it, and that's something that rarely happens. I saw a lot of instances of "let's use five words when one or two would work just as well" as I was reading, and it didn't flow well at all. I did get some chuckles from things like the "Flogger of Thud", but if it wasn't intended to be funny, then I'm not sure it's a good thing that I found it amusing. If it's ever available in a well-edited version, I'd give it another try, but as it's written now, I can't recommend it. Esta resenha foi escrita no âmbito dos Primeiros Resenhistas do LibraryThing. I found this hard to get into, and only received part of the book, so do not know how it continued. I do not think I would, in any case, be interested in reading any more as it was too unrewarding to wade through. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha

Domina: Society's Ilk is the story of a woman who refuses to be defined by those that can barely define themselves and rejects the dogged conventions of how she is supposed to be - levied by yet based upon those claiming to be like her. It is the story of a superheroine who is capable of carrying an entire imprint as its franchise offering - so respected so as to garner the support of characters from an entirely different imprint for the purposes of ensuring her proper send-off into the universe. It is a story of last resorts of sorts in a pool of prose where the defiant metaphor which takes its plot seriously cannot be drowned. To Domina, none of this is anything new. She has always shouldered the ever increasing responsibilities of being a protector, the always welcome obligation of being a friend, and the treacherously important burden of being an entrepreneur. So why do her detractors continue to believe they can win? Não foram encontradas descrições de bibliotecas. |
