Adult reviewers are loving the very dry humor in this. I chuckled, but it's awfully bleak for a picture book. The plot: Bear loses his hat and goes looking for it. When Bear dramatically realizes rabbit stole his hat he...(spoiler alert) eats rabbit in revenge. The bear's like Lennie in [b:Of Mice and Men|890|Of Mice and Men|John Steinbeck|http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/510ZSsOCY9L._SL75_.jpg|40283], nice and kinda dumb, but under that harmless facade he's a killer. His expressionless face when he utters his last line, "I love my hat," reminded me of nothing so much as a remorseless psychopath. Creepy. This is a humorous cumulative tale, told entirely through dialogue, of a bear asking several animals if they have seen his hat. In this simple tale, the bear becomes discouraged when he can’t find his hat. When questioned by the deer, he suddenly figures out what the reader may have already realized, that he had seen his hat. He runs past the other characters, back to the rabbit who is wearing his hat. While enjoying the return of his hat a squirrel approaches and asks the bear if he has seen a rabbit with a hat. The bear uses the same denial language that the rabbit had used when being asked about the hat. The reader is left to infer about Rabbit’s fate. The simple, but effective, illustrations lend humor and intensity to support the text. I think this book would be a fun interactive story to read with students and lend itself to discuss inference. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
