A collection of short essays by the author over the course of 25 years, mostly taking a historical perspective on industrialization in England with a specific focus on notions of craft, the crafts movements, and not the least on the roles of craft in art and design education. Even though it is a small book of short texts, it covers a lot of ground and I personally found it both enjoyable and interesting to read. The newly written Introduction does a fine job of introducing the currently growing interest in craft perspectives and identifies a number of key sources in the emergent discourse.
