Andrew's life is a cliché: he's a gay man trapped in a loveless marriage, thanks to his religious, overbearing mother. Then a new couple moves in down the street, and Andrew finds himself falling for Nathan in a big way. Nathan is straight, married, and just about to be a father, but after one fateful night out together at a club, Nathan has to face the fact that his feelings for Andrew go way beyond that of a friend and neighbor. When Andrew's wife asks for a divorce, both men's lives are thrown into disarray. Arguments about their responsibilities to their wives and children, doubting themselves and each other, and some harrowing lies pull them apart⦠but they never leave each other's thoughts.… (mais)

Yvonne wrote a review that says everything that needs to be said much better than I could.

I have only two things to add -
1. I usually hate lots of melodrama, and in this book you get plenty, but I still felt compelled to read it. Kinda like that one soap opera I just had to watch till the end despite the screaming and meddling servants and the twin brothers and the awful language.

2. Sequels!
I want to see what happens to Gabe and Gary and I especially want to see what, if anything, happens to Colin and Daniel. I want it now! ( )

This was an OK book for me. I didn't like the amount of angst in the book and I wanted to smack both main characters at points throughout it. Not a fan of cheating or having different partners but that is more of a preference for me, not a problem with the writing. The writing itself was very well done. ( )

By far one of the most emotionally gripping m/m novels that I've read. Bravo!!! This book is not a sweet, simple love story. It's deals with issues of self-realization, adultery, divorce, death, bigotry, and yes love. When I was reading this "Bridges of Madison County" continued to plague my mind. In many ways it has some of the same themes.
Some may have a hard time dealing with the Adultery in this book. I found that the more I read the more I sympathized with the characters. They were in love. 5 stars ( )

Torn between a 3 and a 4. I finally decided that it was a 4 based on the fact that I put off talking to husband, doing laundry, cleaning the house, having company over, eating, and crying like a baby while reading it. That alone deserves a 4.

Basically it is a story about two married, closeted men over a period of 7 years. We see their ups and downs, when they make mistakes, learn from them, and when they do not learn from them.

I spoke about cheating in another review and how recently it seems like all of the books I have read include it. In this case we are talking about two men who are closeted and married, so you can fill in the blanks about cheating.

Part of me was just irritated at both of them, for betraying their love for each other. But the other part of me, obviously is not a gay male, so I can not relate at how devastating it must be to have to push down such a large part of your personality and self for the sake of your family and children.

I was in tears at many points of this story, yelling at the characters at other points, but always cheering for them to get together.

You will cry when you read this. Keep in mind that the book is obviously very angsty and I could have used a little dial down on that, but it is probably appropriate for the plot.
