A retelling of Cinderella -- Cinderella is a pony, and goes to a pony show to be won by a princess. I don't really get the pony thing that little girls allegedly have, but I appreciated this retelling. (But how to pronounce the title? pahn-yell-uh? or poh-nee-ehl-uh?) ( )

I thought this book was okay, there was a lot going on and there was too many words per page.

Ponyella is a retelling of the story Cinderella, but a pony instead of a girl. The book begins with Ponyella being treated unfairly and she was miserable. But then, a fairy "godmare" appeared and provided Ponyella with a trailer, driver, and even diamond horseshoes. This allowed Ponyella to perform at a competition where she had the highest jumps of all the ponies. This caught the eye of a princess who wanted to buy Ponyella as her own, but Ponyella had already escaped because she needed to be back home before she returned to her normal self. The princess looked all over for Ponyella and when she found her she was all dirty, but the princess wanted her anyway. She bought Ponyella and they lived happily ever after. This book is a fairytale.

This was a great story. The story was a Cinderella story but told with horses. This book was great because most children know the story of Cinderella so they can relate the plot of this book to the story that they are familiar with. I really liked how the author substituted animals for people to retell this classic story. The language in this book well written and is very vivid. For example, “Her coat was white as a marshmallow and her mane was long and silky. She lived on a small farm with green pastures and a lovely barn.” The main idea of this story was that being humble could bring good things to you. You can tell this because Ponyella never complained about being mistreated by her new owners. She just dealt with it and went about her day, just hoping for a better life. This can really teach children that being true to yourself can result in good things happing. ( )
