This is a beautiful and joyous collection of photographs of dogs, wildly witty and profoundly perceptive. Dog lovers will treasure the intensity of expression that he succeeds in capturing, and the exactitude with which he captures the essential qualities of many different breeds. As a devoted standard poodle owner, the pairing of show-ready poodles with elaborate topiary was very apt, revealing both the beauty of the dog, and the silliness that that beauty inspires. But you don't have to be a dog lover to love this book -- it is a collection of stunning pictures, beautiful as studies in pure form. I got this as a Christmas present: it's a wonderful gift. ( )
