Carregando... Carpe Jugulum (1998)de Terry Pratchett
![]() Ainda não há conversas na Discussão sobre este livro. Second time. Reading aloud to Donny. ( ![]() Terry Pratchett simply couldn`t write a bad Discworld book. On the surface this one is about simply witches vs vampires (sorry vampyres) but it`s not only full with hilarious pop cultural references but sometimes unexpectedly it speaks about dead serious things dead seriously (and you still laughing your socks off). On Discworld, it's not a good time to be a priest, especially when you're caught up in a war between vampires and witches. The vamps are out of the casket and want a bite of the future. To get rid of them, you'll need more than a garlic enema. Nanny Ogg, Granny Weatherwax and the rest are back. Only the second Discworld book I've read, and I liked it, but Thud! was better: it had a tighter plot with fewer problematic spots. Still a fun read, just lacking the "wow" factor of Thud! ~bint On this re-read, I'm going to revise my rating a star higher. Why? Because I really enjoyed it. :) Really, what else can anyone say about reading Pratchett? That they love the quips and the little funny wisdoms and the bloody-minded humor? Well, sure, all of that is grand, but pitting Granny against vampyres that have a bit of Weatherwax wisdom is a sure-fire way to make the sparks fly. And even mythological birds are still birds. :) Stand-out scenes for me are the ones where Nanny Ogg becomes the "other" witch and I absolutely loved her flirtations with Igor. :) Oh, and Oats. Oats and Granny were so CUTE together. :) Está contido emTem a adaptaçãoÉ resumida em
A beautiful hardback edition of the classic Discworld novel In this and indeed other lives there are givers and takers. It's safe to say that vampires are very much in the latter camp. They don't have much time for the givers of this world - except perhaps mealtimes - and even less for priests. Mightily Oats has not picked a good time to be a priest. Lancre's newest residents are a thoroughly modern, sophisticated vampire family. They've got style and fancy waistcoats. They're out of the casket and want a bite of the future. But they haven't met the neighbours yet- between them and Lancre stand Granny Weatherwax and Nanny Ogg. And Magrat, who is trying to combine witchcraft and nappies. And young Agnes, although she is really in two minds about everything. Mightily Oats knows he has a prayer, but he wishes he had an axe. Não foram encontradas descrições de bibliotecas. |
