My dad gifted this to me when I was young and it started me on a life long happy trek with Mr. Pratchett. I enjoyed each of them as a child and as an adult and have passed them on to my own kids with glee. As a kid there weren't a lot of books that I could read which gave insight into human nature and such. They're fun and maybe a little light for adults but no budding sci-fi fan should miss out on this series. ( ) Johnny and his friends accidentally time travel back to the Blitz and have to figure out away to escape the grandfather paradox. The final Johnny Maxwell book is more polished than it's predecessors, but I didn't find it quite as memorable. I've read this before (and seen the TV series they made of it) but really needed a distraction for some boring data-editing work and this was great to have on in the background as an audio book, engaging the parts of my brain that would otherwise have been stagnating. I think Pratchett does a good job of capturing the huge gulf between everyday life in 1941 and 1996 - and it's intriguing that aspects of life in 1996 are already striking me as quaintly old fashioned (phones that are confined to one room, for example, no-one carrying mobile phones). sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
