O romance é cercado por intrigas, onde um de seus amigos Iago, arquiteta uma suposta traição de Desdêmona com Cássio, também amigo de Otelo deixando-o bastante enciumado com a situação, totalmente descontrolado, Otelo vai a procura de sua esposa acreditando que ela o havia traído e a asfixia em seu quarto.
