I found this book to be intriguing from the beginning. There were many points during my reading of this book that I had to remind myself that I was reading an autobiography and not a novel. While reading this account of Rami's life, I was both amazed and encouraged by the power of God and the truth of His Word that brings his people to saving faith. It was also a good reminder to me that the battles we fight here on earth are not against flesh and blood but against principalities, and that God is ultimately the victor. A wonderful read and an amazing testimony. ( )Esta resenha foi escrita no âmbito dos Primeiros Resenhistas do LibraryThing. I had high hopes that this would be an absorbing read. The subject matter and story line have a great potential for drama. And I’m very glad for Rami’s redemption. But the execution was flat, and I had to force myself to finish the book. There are minor grammatical and structure issues, but this does not detract from the book. The story is an amazing auto-biography of Rami Kivisalo from his early childhood to earlier this year (2010). Anyone who has attempted to deal with their own failures and shortcomings in trying to live out a Christian life needs to read this book. Rami discusses plainly the truth of demonic influences in his life, the amazing redemption of his life by Jesus, and the struggle to live that Christian life. It is a story of going as far away from God as possible, only to be brought back by His undying, relentless love. Rami ends his book with a reminder that God's love is not just for him, but for each of us, no matter what our circumstance and situation in life. I highly recommend this book to anyone who struggles with eradicating the sinful life of their past that continues to intrude onto their present. At dinner I was talking about what I had read thus far and the next thing I knew it was gone. It went through the whole house before I finally got it back. This is a really gripping tale that keeps you reading to the end. The violence wasn't over done although it never hid the truth of just how violent he could be. It is amazing to me how quick and easy it was for him to get caught in the "beast's" snare. His inner dialogue and attempts to understand himself were the topic of discussion at many dinners. I have a whole new understanding of the role prayer pays in a persons life. And the miracles that they bring. Esta resenha foi escrita no âmbito dos Primeiros Resenhistas do LibraryThing. I finally got a chance to sit down and read this book. Once I started it I could not put it down. It is an amazing, astounding story of God's love, grace and forgiveness and how He changes people as they let Him change them. I highly recommend reading this book!!sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
Born to Finnish missionaries in Tanzania, Rami Kivisalo showed an unexpected bent toward crime and violence. In his teens he was schooled by a master in the lethal art of "snake kung fu." At twenty he had a booming international drug and arms trade, was allied with a major Russian mafia organization, and was drawing on demonic forces to maintain control. With a vivid, you-are-there style, this former Russian mob boss delivers a gripping story of how the son of missionary parents became empowered, and then trapped, in the deadly world of demonic possession and international intrigue--until the Lord reached out and saved him. Full of adrenaline-pumping action, true-life crime, and the unconditional grace of God, The Red Scorpion is an ultimately uplifting reminder of how even the most prodigal of sons is welcomed home.
