This is Ray Comfort's first novel and I give it a big thumbs up! It was a well told story with mystery, suspense, romance and a look at the wild west in the 1800's. It showed what greed and bitterness can do to a person, but also showed what abiding faith and real love look like. There were many secrets throughout this story and I enjoyed watching how all of them came to light and how the whole story unfolded.

Jake has hidden with his mother and sister and watched his father be killed. It is now 10 years later and Jake will struggle with his mother and God over a fortune he feels has been kept hidden from him. Catrina is a young lady who has lived the life of a prostitute and finds herself freed from that life and trying to make something of herself and leave her past behind her. Jake and Catrina will meet and fall in love, but some secrets just can't stay hidden. There will be blackmail and murder before the book is done and some surprises. I enjoyed the way the author clearly showed how the gospel of our Lord can clearly change a person and make them brand new. This story is a keeper. ( )
