The Organization

The Sacramento Public Library Authority is the fourth largest library system in California serving the public in the City and County of Sacramento as well as the cities of Citrus Heights, Elk Grove, Galt, Isleton and Rancho Cordova. The Sacramento Public Library operates 27 libraries, which includes a Central Library in downtown Sacramento, has over 300 staff members, a collection of 2M volumes, and a budget of $35M. More than 600,000 residents have a library card and over 7M items are circulated annually.

In the last decade, the Sacramento Public Library has experienced significant activity in the construction and remodeling of library facilities. Library building projects include three new branches, three expanded branches, and six remodeled branches.

The new 23,000-square-foot North Natomas Library opened in January 2010. This beautiful new joint-use facility serves as the community library, a high school library, and a college center library with amenities including 120 public-access computer stations, the TEENS@ room, Kids’ Place, two study rooms, a quiet study room, and a community meeting room.

Sacramento Public Library Authority will open the new Robbie Waters Pocket-Greenhaven Library on August 28, 2010. This 15,000-square-foot, joint-use branch serves the community and Sacramento City Unified School District’s School of Engineering and Sciences. Amenities include a separate children’s room and reading tower, a teen room, two study rooms, a community meeting room to accommodate up to 100 people, and a quiet reading room.

In conjunction with the Facility Master Plan, the library developed a Strategic Services Plan that focuses on three key areas: Reading, Learning, and Community. The Plan was developed with extensive customer input and provides clear future direction for the development of library services and programs. The Library conducts a wide variety of programs every month for toddlers, school age children, college bound students and adults.

I am a children's book author. I was wondering how I can get my book into the Sacramento library? It's called The Rainbow Stick Boy.

Thanks!
