- "Savannah Bay (named after the famous play by French writer Marguerite Duras) is the only women/gay/lesbian bookstore in Utrecht. It was also the first Dutch feminist bookshop: the store was founded in 1975, during the rise of the women's movement in Holland. Since that time, many things have changed. However, the main goal of our bookstore ultimately remains the same, as Savannah Bay is dedicated to provide women ànd men with information and books on gender, homosexuality and multiculturalism. We specialize in books by, for and about gays,lesbians and bisexuals. The heart of our diverse collection is the extensive selection of literary fiction and poetry from the Netherlands and abroad."
"In addition to the books in Dutch, we have many English books; for instance, the genderstudies section consists almost exclusively of books in English. There is a extensive selection on feminist philosophy, a wide range of books on ethnicity and race/racism, and a special collection of books concerned with environmental and development issues. Furthermore, we offer special sections on art, music, theatre, literary criticism, language, popular culture, film, history, social sciences, physics, religion, spirituality and psychology. Our gay/lesbian section, as well as the general literature department, contains a impressive selection of English books. We try to stock every classic or new interesting novel in English. Last but not least, we have lots of DVDs in the English language!" - Added By
