- The Plaza Branch began as Arlington County's Government Reference Library, and was originally housed on the 4th floor of the County Office Building.
In 2006, when the County Office Building was renovated, the Government Reference section moved downstairs to the 1st floor, and was incorporated into the new Plaza Library and Arlington Shop. The Arlington Shop retails County-branded merchandise to promote pride in the County and support County initiatives.
The Plaza Library currently serves three distinct functions that include being a small popular circulating library for neighbors and those working in the area, an internet access point with six connected personal computers, and a reference library for those who work with the County government on zoning, sustainability and other issues.
The Plaza Library also serves as the information and referral gateway to the County, answering the County’s main telephone line, referring callers to the appropriate department, and greeting visitors to the County’s office building at 2100 Clarendon Blvd. - Added By
