What manga titles you think are worth collecting? Some titles are just good for one-time read while others are good enough to have in your collection for re-reading purposes.

Titles I think are worth collecting:

Kimi ni Todoke
Tsubasa -RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE-
xxxHOLiC

I started collecting Spiral, but stopped at the third book. Somehow I don't follow their "logic" and for me it was kinda boring so far. The first volume was ok, and reminded me of Loveless, with the lost brother, but now.. will it be better? why do you like the series so much?

I agree with Skip Beat and the twelve kingdoms novel..

Also I think that After School Nightmare is really great.
Here is my favorite mangas-list:

For me they're all great, and I'm happy that I started collecting them.

Oh, I totally forgot about After School Nightmare. It is one of my favorites too. Gotta add it to the list.

Spiral: Suiri no Kizuna is a bit different from all the series I am reading and it is a good change. I do find it interesting and I am always looking forward to read more of it. I have seen the anime first and then started buying the manga.

To be honest, I'm not really all that discerning when it comes to what I read (which is probably obvious from my 3200+ graphic novel collection) and I feel...odd...claiming something as a keeper when I haven't finished the series myself. For example, I absolutely LOVE Berserk, but the series isn't finished yet, so I wouldn't really feel comfortable recommending it to anyone else as a something they should buy to keep on their shelves.

Actually, now that I think about it...there aren't a lot of people I'd automatically recommend Berserk to...at least not without being familiar with some of the other series they've read (and enjoyed) - the art is a little *ahem* graphic. ^_^;

If you can handle a bit of incest and some fantasy-based Christianity-bashing, I guess Angel Sanctuary was worth keeping - the storyline was interesting at the very least. I also really liked Fake and Antique Bakery, and have happily kept both series on my shelves since purchasing them many years ago - but they're both yaoi/shonen-ai, so consider yourself warned. ;P

Mars was the first manga series I read all the way through, so for me it's definitely one to keep, too. Imadoki is another favorite of mine that not many people are familiar with - slice of life stories aren't usually my cup of tea, but I really enjoyed that one for some reason. So, yeah (genre I don't usually read) + (enjoyment) = Keeper. ^_^

I'm sure there are more, but none that immediately come to mind...at least none that are finished yet. :)

I love Fake and it is one I will never, ever part with. I've been slowly re-reading Cardcaptor Sakura: Master of the Clow and am very happy I hung on to that as well. Other complete series I find re-readable and keepable are Her Majesty's Dog, After School Nightmare andYellow (yaoi).

When I'm able to start pursuing my collections again I'll be after the new volumes of Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle and Rasetsu.

The Tarot Cafe
I've only read the first 3 volumes, but I like Vampire Knight
I've only read volume 1, but I really like Model

I just finished Gentlemen's Alliance Cross and it was really good. I already bough the last volume since the library did not have it, and I'm considering buying the rest :)

I would never, ever give up "Embracing Love"! The series was being published by BeBeautiful, which has since been "reorganized". I'm really hoping they'll continue to publish EL eventually -- although a bit graphic in some ways and melodramatic, it's beautifully illustrated and I love the characters immensely. It's yaoi, so if that's not your deal...don't read it. : ) I also love "Fake", "Yellow", "Love to Hate You", "Alcohol, Shirt, and Kiss"... heck, I have a lot of yaoi. I only keep what I really love. Beautiful art doesn't make up for a crap storyline, and if I don't like the art, a good story won't compensate.

I'd also have to keep the complete run of "Sailor Moon" and "Revolutionary Girl Utena". Oh, and "Vampire Princess Miyu". All are great series. : )

When I first started to read your reply, I was going to write that I did not know the series Embracing Love, but I guess I don't know much yaoi. I do recognize the names of Yellow and Fake. I've even read Fake vol 1 and own Vol 4. Some day I'll have to finish the series. Can you recommend a good yaoi series that has already been entirely published in English and that's not too long (5-10 volumes ish)

I would own (if I could):

Hikaru no Go (OMG OBSESSION)
Hunter x Hunter (up to Greed Island)
Yu Yu Hakusho
(and the anime for those three too)
Full metal alchemist (oh man still one of the best manga I have ever read. LOVED the ending so fricking much! The way the plot weaves and arches and comes together is so amazing!)
Parts of One Piece like when Bibi/Vivi was in it. A runaway princess that I didn't find cliche!
At least volume 1 of 1/2 Prince which, honest to god, made me laugh until I cried.

And that's about it. I'm really picky. Everything else that I've read was a one or two time thing, not permanent enough to buy and own, even if I loved it at the time.

Yellow is great, and it's been republished in two two-volume omnibus editions. Hmmm... Fake is six or seven volumes long and complete, as is Totally Captivated (six volumes). Hero Heel, also by Makoto Tateno, is three volumes long. I don't read that many series, but those are the only ones that I have that are currently complete. I mostly read one shots, and could recommend several good ones if you're interested (Only the Ring Finger Knows, Ka Shin Fu, Hate to Love You, Freefall Romance, Lover's Flat, Alcohol Shirt and Kiss, Cigarette Kisses... just to name a few!)

Thanks for the list, and one shots are good too, though I generally like at least a few volumes, so that the story can have more depth.
