The Lorax is fantastic.

I agree, too many, but that's what a favorite collection/tag is for. :) Some of my favorites include (trying to narrow this list down to those I've read many times, though more fit that category and I have many other favorites!)...

Picture books:
  • The Digging-est Dog - Al Perkins
  • The House of Four Seasons - Roger Duvoisin
  • Snuffle to the Rescue - Elisabeth Beresford
  • The Little Lamb - Judy Dunn
  • A Good Fish Dinner - Barbara K. Walker
  • Morris Has a Cold - Bernard Wiseman
  • Huge Harold - Bill Peet
  • The Perfect Ride - Lady McCrady
  • Sam and the Firefly - P. D. Eastman

  • Novels/other (very difficult to narrow down, again trying to list multiply read though it's not all of them; most are favorites by that author):
  • The Dream Catcher - Monica Hughes
  • A Year at Sheepfold Farm - Susan Williams
  • George's Marvellous Medicine - Roald Dahl
  • Blind Flight - Hilary Milton
  • Who Stole Kathy Young? - Margaret Goff Clark
  • Princess - Carolyn Lane
  • R My Name is Rosie - Barbara Cohen
  • Lassie Come-Home - Eric Knight
  • Lucy and the Merman - Audrey Brixner
  • Shadows - Lynn Hall
  • A Horse Named Doodlebug - Irene Brady
  • Trina - Patricia Miles Martin
  • Anna Sewell's 'Black Beauty' - adapted by Jane Carruth
  • White Ruff - Glenn Balch
  • My Wolf My Friend - Barbara Corcoran
  • Laura's Luck - Marilyn Sachs
  • Baby Island - Carol Ryrie Brink
  • Mishmash and the Substitute Teacher - Molly Cone
  • I agree these are excellent: From Anna by Jean Little
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C. S. Lewis
but don't recall having read the second many, many times, and From Anna I never encountered until an adult. Speaking of which, other favorites discovered later:
  • Dark Summer - Dorothy K. Aldis
  • Mine for Keeps - Jean Little
  • The Silent Spillbills - Tor Seidler
  • Now You See It... - Vivian Vande Velde
  • Spillbills I recall I've read at least twice but don't own the book, and the Velde book I read the public library copy twice within a year before obtaining my own copy. Mind you I have heaps of favs. I might have read once or twice that I also intend to read again!
