Anne of Green Gables: At what age did you first read it?

What do you is think is the optimum age for first reading Anne of Green Gables?

so long ago that I can barely remember! I think I was maybe 8 or 9? My elderly neightbor had a copy she had bouth decades before on a trip to PEI and that was the one I read. Read over and over until it fell apart. Went to the store to buy a new one and discovered there was a whole series! All this happened before the miniseries came out in 1985.

I reread the series every few years and always find something new but I think 10 or 11 is a good age to start.

I was probably 8 or 9 when I read Anne of Green Gables for the first time. I didn't visit it again until I reached adulthood. This is a book that I use consistently as a "stableizer". When I get into a book that upsets me tremendously or when life throws me a really bad curve, I just run and get my "Anne" book and within chapters I am calming down. Anne Shirley is very good therapy.
I don't believe that my impressions of the book have changed from childhood. And I do think Anne of Green Gables is a book for all ages. Not so much the rest of the series but "Anne" for sure!~!
I think when I first read the book was a perfect age for me to read it for the first time. It might not be the same for everyone.
