This year I moved from teaching 6th grade social studies to being an elementary school teacher-librarian. I am interested in how other teachers use Big 6 and Super 3 in their classes.

I am not sure what the Big 6 and Super 3 are. I teach fourth grade in an inner city school where we do not have a library... yet. This will be my 3rd year at this school, as well as 3rd year teaching, and I'm trying to build my classroom library all on my own. Any suggestions/helpful hints? Thanks!

Hmm- have you tried calling publishers (of textbooks used in your school) and asking for a free copy of a book to start your library? I must admit that I bought alot of my own books to show students.

I've been collecting for when I have a class. I go to tag sales sometimes and come out with boxes of books for very little money. If you don't have access to tag sales, maybe you can try book sales at local libraries. Be sure to get teacher discounts for all the big bookstores.
