Greetings, I'm posting this message around LT announcing that I'm accepting submissions for a new site I've started called The Letter Project. http://theletterproject.wordpress.com/

I'm accepting letters on topics of literature or writing. Come to the site: there are 13 examples up right now. The application process is simple:

1. Think of somebody you want to write a letter to.
2. Write the letter. (Keep a copy)
3. Send the letter to me along with a stamped envelope addressed to your recipient. (I'll ferry it on). If you live out of the US, send the letter yourself and also send a copy to me.
4. Include a brief bio and e-mail address.

The Letter Project is a respository of letters about literature and writing. Its goal is to get people back to writing letters again.

Thanks, and I hope you'll be getting those letters in the mail!

We have new letters in the Sunday mailbag.

http://theletterproject.wordpress.com/

Each writer, in some way, addresses what life is like after the creative writing degree. Despite some doubts, fears, and setbacks, all these writers remain relatively steadfast in their goals and firm in their love of both reading and writing.

Interesting to note: because of the lag time between writing, receiving, sending, and publishing these letters, Jill Grunenwald's letter to her boyfriend, Bo, is being seen by us after the fact of their breakup. Jill tells me she still wants the letter published, as does Bo, who said to her that a letter is a snapshot in time and no less true because circumstances change.

Soon, we will be announcing a new project: the tiny letter, or Microlette. We'll post explanations and examples!

How to submit to The Letter Project:

It's simple--

1. Think of somebody you want to write a letter to. Write the letter. Keep a copy.

2. Send the letter to me. Include a stamped envelope with the recipient's address on it. Also include contact information (e-mail) so I can contact you.

3. I'll ferry your letter along. If I decide to post it at the site, I'll send you an e-mail with further instructions.

Send your all your letters about writing and writers to:
