Opinions on Naomi Hirahara

While snooping around trying to find out something about the legacy/history of Japanese gardeners in Southern California, I find Japanese-American Naomi Hirahara, She wrote Green Makers: Japanese American Gardeners in Southern California.

But I find her stock-in-trade is apparently mystery writing. Her books include Snakeskin Shamisen, Summer of the Big Bachi, Gasa-Gasa Girl, and 1001 Cranes. Though not a mystery reader, my recent encounter with The Curious Casebook of Inspector Hanshichi, as me giving this stuff consideration.

Any viewpoints on Ms Hirahara's handiwork welcomed.
