I am interested in non-fiction from any historical period that includes descriptions or accounts of reaching Israel from Europe on foot. This might include early Zionists walking from Russia to the early Jewish settlements in the then-Ottoman Empire. It might mean refugees fleeing Europe to find safety in Israel, etc.

Does anyone have any knowledge of books that address this topic?

Thank you -- I will check that out! I am particularly interested in more specific and detailed accounts -- personal reminiscences would be wonderful! -- rather than in general information about this mode of arrival as might be found in even a thorough general history.

I came across a book title , "The Gate Breakers" by Bracha Habas written in Hebrew translated into English by David Segal. The book chronicled the dramatic migration of the Jewish people into Palestine. The book details: New York , Herzl Press, 1963.You may interested to read this book also.
