I got an email for a book on my wishlist but when I tried to request it I got the message: "You can't use that feature yet ...
Before you can use that feature, we need you to confirm your email address.
A confirmation email will be sent to you in the next 24 hours, once an administrator has reviewed your account."

...Even though I've been happily mooching away since August & getting emails all along. Has anybody come across this? Something I did wrong?

Wow! That's one that I haven't heard of! It seems to me that it has been mentioned before of that happening with brand new members, but not when you have been here for awhile. Maybe it is just a glitch and if you log in to the account the regular way instead of through the email it may work???

I got in touch with Tech Support at BookMooch and they are checking into the problem but I can't mooch at all for now; apparently some hold was put on my account.

Oh dear, that's too bad, especially when that book that you want is up for mooching!

Is the book gone? If it's still there I'm sure one of us would be willing to grab it for you, so it doesn't slip through your fingers....

Heather19 - That's a sweet thought! I don't mind so much letting the book go by, just hoping the problem will get straightened out soon (and that it wasn't something I did wrong!)

When is this going to be fixed???

7: It's a glitch that can happen with Bookmooch accounts. I recommend notifying Bookmooch support rather than posting here, if it's happening to you.

Sorry Infiniteletters, it is not a gltich at all, so no need to post here, but please do send in a report (only one) so we can explain the problem further.

I'm still not able to mooch & haven't gotten an explanation, but BookMooch support said to be patient for a few days so I'm waiting.

I am so glad I found this forum. I've been a member of paperbackswap for 6 months and have had over 150 great swaps. I then heard about Bookmooch actually in an Amazon.com forum and I thought it sounded interesting, much larger, international etc so I joined about Nov 6,2009 and had 5 swaps. I was feeling really good about it until 3 weeks after I joined I kept getting the messages. I couldn't add inventory, access my profile etc. I wrote to tech support and no answer. No account verification e-mail. I wrote a more insistent e-mail to tech support and they closed my account because they said I used 2 other IDs in the past (I never even heard of Bookmooch until Nov 1,2009.) I don't know what to think. If I hadn't had some successful mooches I would have thought the whole site was a scam. The person at Tech support was very nasty. She told me I was sending her too many e-mails about it even though she asked me to send her information about my previous transactions which I could only do by sending her emails since I my account was closed and I couldn't get into it. She then told me that I was banned! I couldn't believe it. I am 57 years old, an avid reader and have never scammed anyone in my life. I have written to John to ask him what the situation is but I'm sure he is very busy and haven't heard back from him. Bookmooch sent e-mails to 2 of my moochers whom I had already sent the book that their books were lost in the mail and gave them their point back. I wrote them and told them their books were indeed on the way. One really nice lady wrote back and told me she just got her book and would give me my point back when I got it all straightened out. This doesn't seem like a very professional club to me. This is the e-mail I received from Tech Support. I looked up the 2 IDs she said I had. The person lives in TN. I live in GA. I have no idea who it is.

Your previous accounts, pbbunny and jasontyler, were closed because you were scamming the system. You are now banned from Bookmooch, which is why your new account was also closed. Please do not contact us again.

My account was mattietipson that they closed. I liked Bookmooch my 3 weeks of belonging and had planned on donating some money as I got more established. I am hurt and feel as though my character has been fraudulently attacked. I don't know what else to do. Theresa

I understand why you feel the way you to, but the Admin team at BookMooch is very experienced with what they do and know all the different ways to spot a scammer. If they closed your account because of that, they obviously had good reason to. They don't close accounts without good reason.

That might be true but in this case they made a big mistake. I wish they would explain to me what lead them to think that. The only thing I can possibly think of is that TN and GA both have Bellsouth AT&T internet service. I have a static IP address but I think there is a way you can get a rotating one. Would it be possible this other person had my IP address at one point? Is there some type of appeal process or legal dept at Bookmooch that I could go over this with?

One of the BM Admins is a regular in this forum, so he'll most likely see this an talk to you about it soon. As for IP addresses, they aren't specific to the individual, sometimes TONS of people will have the same IP address, so I very much doubt that the Admins would close an account based purly on IPs.

Thank you so much Heather19 that helps alot to know about the IP addresses as that is all I could think of. I know I shouldn't be as upset as I am about this but I don't seem to be able to let go of it.

Perhaps if you asked the people who received your books to contact Bookmooch and let them know that you did indeed send them books that might help.

dadena, I thought of that. 3 of them already had marked their's received. I can have the lady that just got hers tell them and one is still enroute as it is going from GA to WA and is a thick hardcover.

I can look into your case (in fact one of us was in queue to do so as you have sent multiple complaints about Becky).

But we cannot discuss the details of your case on this public forum, nor site security features, other than to say accounts are not closed without a considerable amount of checking and group discussion.

I'll send a reply to your most recent complaint within 24 hours.

Mark, Have you found out anything about my mattietipson Bookmooch account? I just received an e-mail from the last of my 5 moochers that she got her book and I could forward the e-mail to you if needed? I certainly didn't mean to be sending multiple complaints but I felt as though I should be able to contact someone to say the info you had wasn't correct. Is there a way I can PM you instead of posting? Theresa

Hi albanyhill: just saw your post and was interested because this has just happened to me. I have been on BookMooch for several years and then suddenly this happens. I don't know if it's related to a problem with BookMooch e-mails that has apparently happened to several people in recent months. I'm going to try to post this problem as a new topic and see if anybody responds.
