Were the police competent enough when they checked the caravan, or negligent? Why?

The were negligent as they didn’t know what was really going on.

Their lack of professionalism and proficiency was a disgrace. How will criminals ever be bested if the police can’t cooperate between separate police authorities? I hope this in no way reflects real policing…

Scandalously incompetent with the thoroughness of the check. There was no answer so surely they should have followed things up.

No knocking at the caravan door; no asking round a few neighbours to see if they’d noticed anything out of the ordinary.

I thought it was shocking that they didn't perform any sort of welfare check.

Pretty lazy policing I agree.
