Ok, experts -
The first chapter is a little girl hiding in her house as her parents get murdered. In the next chapter, we fast forward to a young lady who is now a detective or FBI agent, and on the side, she's trying to figure out who killed her parents. She manages to get some of the old files.
She has the usual boyfriend dramas. That's about how far I got. Any help?
