Genre Drama/Mystery: Young woman with friends in home at the sea early 1900’s

Hi. I read a book at the beach in 2010 about a young woman staying in a Victorian home in the early 1900’s. Her friends were involved in a crime. It was a drama/mystery and the home was on a cliff above the ocean. I would love to find it. Any help is appreciated!

Maybe something by Kate Morton? Some overlap with The Forgotten Garden.

Or something by Daphne du Maurier? Roughly how old was the book? What country was it set in?
