Group Challenges going forward

I am just wondering if people would be too upset if we abandon the monthly group challenge? Participation has been spotty and I am, to be honest, running out of ideas!
I think just having the monthly group read will be enough, but please let me know what you think.
Or if anyone else would like to have a turn at posting a challenge each month going forward, you are welcome to take it on.

That’s fine. I just don’t usually have time for the group read, my monthly reading group, plus the group challenge. Although I have enjoyed thinking about them!

>1 JayneCM: thanks for running with this in recent years. Like >2 annamorphic: I find it hard to fit in the Group Challenge with my other reading commitments, but I’ve enjoyed trying to think of books that would meet the challenge if I only had more time.

I’ll keep the monthly Group Read going, though participation there has also fallen off in recent years also, and there were no seconded books this month for the first time.

It is now 17 years since the original list was published and nearly 12 years since I joined this group. I still log in each morning to see who’s been reading what overnight and like reading the reviews and discussions from around the world. Even if group project participation has fallen off this is a community I enjoy, and hope to continue with for years to come.

I agree that it's fine if this falls by the wayside. I also still check in here all the time, but my list reading has really dwindled. I'm down to about 5 list books a year! I still really enjoy this group of people, though, so I hope the group stays active!

On the other hand, here is a whole year's worth of challenges from the "Booklist Queen"

https://www.booklistqueen.com/reading-challenge-2024/?utm_source=newsletter&...

Some of these could absorb the 1001 qualifications. And some could not. But for people looking for a challenge -- every week, no less! -- your dreams can come true.

And I agree with puckers and japaul22, I log in here to check what's being read by others and I like this community. I still have a long ways to go, although I think I accidentally just started a Faulkner book that isn't on the list. My uncle the novelist said it was a Great Book, so how can it not be included? Ah well.

Thanks all. I check in here regularly as well and still have a LONG way to go to completing the list so will be here for a while to come yet.
I am going to make it a priority to get to the group read for often next year, if I can access it.

>5 annamorphic: I do love challenges so will definitely check this one out! I also do the Pop Sugar challenge and the 52 Book Club challenge.
