Opinions on Bookroar?

I'm signed up to Bookroar, which is a free online resource for authors to generate sales and reviews through Amazon. You browse the books which authors have posted, choose one, then buy and review it on Amazon and Goodreads. This gives you a credit for your own book to be included, for someone else to buy and review.

Now Bookroar claim that their system neatly avoids breaking Amazon's rules about paid reviews, review swapping etc, but I've seen it suggested that Amazon could in future clamp down on this. They could identify the links between purchases and reviews and possibly remove all reviews for your book. I was signed up to Bookroar put removed my book from the pool in something of a panic.

Does anyone have any views on this?

So the service is the one checking to see that you reviewed the book, not the author of the book. Posting the review gets you a "ticket' in the system and not with a particular author. Did I get that right?

Is there any motivation for you to write a good review on a book that doesn't deserve it? Because I'm not really seeing one.

I guess you could hope that the author would notice and return the favor, but it doesn't sound like the system encourages that behavior particularly.

It does seem to be encouraging people to buy from Amazon, though.

If I were Amazon, I would leave it alone.

>2 LShelby: Yep, you've got it right, and I agree with your reasoning. I just got a little spooked by some Reddit comments. Bookroar's algorithm apparently prevents authors from reviewing each other's book, ie, prevents a straight swap.
