I have been wondering if there would ever be a female DOCTOR WHO since they have always been white males. Has the BBC ever considered having him Regenerate into a female version? Do you think a female DOCTOR WHO would be popular with the fans? And what happens to The Doctor once he reaches his 13th and final Regeneration? Does the Series finally end? Why can't he just go back in time and prevent the Daleks from killing off all of the Time Lords? And what of The Master? Do you mean to tell me The Master finally came to an end? After all the years The Doctor and him fought their battles with one another his end comes down to being wiped out in the battle with the Daleks.

The Master has always managed to escape at the last minute somehow. And what of Romana who was left in E-Space she wouldn't have been killed, right? With the unanswered questions about The Master and Romana I don't see how The Doctor can be called the last Time Lord until it is proven without a shadow of a doubt that they also died too. Then there was that guy called Drax who appeared in The Key To Time episode he wouldn't have been on Galifrey either.

Female Doctor: see Exile (Doctor Who Unbound) by Nicholas Briggs. It's an audio drama produced by Big Finish, and it stars Arabella Weir as the Doctor.

On the popularity, well it was suggested back in the 80s as a possibility, though as there are female Time Lords/Time Ladies it's like saying how about this character changes sex?

As far as beyond the 13 regeneration check out: Alien Bodies, which deals with the final Doctor in many ways.

Why can't he go back and save the Time Lords? That issue is addressed in Series 4 (with David Tennant as the Doctor). But it's probably the same reason why the Time Lords (before they were wiped out) can't go back and visit Rassilon (before he ended up in the Tomb).

The Master...well the Master who appears in Last of the Time Lords was brought back by the Time Lords, so he could still be out there (from in between when he last met the Doctor and before he was brought back by the Time Lords). The Adventuress of Henrietta Street features the Master (sort of) after the first destruction of Gallifrey in The Ancestor Cell.

Romana actually came back from E-space in Blood Harvest, and became president of the Time Lords (first mentioned in Happy Endings), and was on Gallifrey in the lead up to its first destruction in The Ancestor Cell.

Well I would say something drastically goes wrong with the whole Regeneration process and The Doctor winds up becomimg a woman. At least that is one way they could do the sex change. There may be others out there too however since I'm not on the BBC's Payroll as a writer for Doctor Who that would be up to them to explore the possibilties for the sex change. Or maybe even The Time Lords themselves force the Regeneration process to make The Doctor become female. I remember seeing the episode of where the Second Doctor Patrick Troughton was forced by the Time Lords to Regenerate into Jon Pertwee the Third Doctor and confined to Earth.

And, of course, the Doctor did regenerate as a woman - in Curse of the Fatal Death ;)

I think the character is too established to change sexes, but I wouldn't object to adventures with a female Time Lord. Anybody listened to the Big Finish audios with Romana as President?
