Change URL to account

Hello, I just started a free trial of TinyCat for my church library that I am setting up. When I opened the account, I didin't realize it was going to have a unique URL for the library, so it has my name as part of the website URL when I want it to have my church's name. Can I change that or will I have to cancel and delete this account and start up a new one?

If I need to start all over, how do I cancel and delete this account?

Thanks,
Amanda

If you go to your account settings from your profile, near the bottom is 'change or delete'.

>1 FaithWayPlainwell: You do not need to delete your account, you can change your username in the account settings.

>2 MarthaJeanne: Do I find this on LibraryThing? Not TinyCat? I would like to keep my LibraryThing account and just link it to a new TinyCat account. Do I have to delete both to change it?

>3 norabelle414: So, I would be changing my username then? Will that change the URL on TinyCat?

>5 FaithWayPlainwell: I'm about 95% sure, yes. The other 5% thinks that maybe site staff will have to change it for you. But you definitely do not need to delete your account and start over. You can change your username here: https://www.librarything.com/settings/change

>6 norabelle414: Thank you! I just submitted for a new username. If it works and changes the URL, then awesome! If I just have to start over with a different TinyCat account, I'm okay with that because I haven't done much. If I have to delete my LibraryThing account and start all over, I will cry! Ha!

>5 FaithWayPlainwell: I'm not 100% sure about that for TinyCat (since I don't use that). But I changed my user name on LT and the URL changed along with it. If I remember correctly, a staff member did have to make it so - but that took just a few hours.

>8 Nicole_VanK: Thanks. Luckily I have a good amount of time to get it figured out before I make it "live" for my church.

It looks like you've got the name change sorted, but since nobody's addressed this particular aspect, TinyCat is not separate from LibraryThing in the way you may think it is; it's really just a nice way to browse a catalog with some circulation features. You can't have a TinyCat without having LibraryThing, and you can't "point" a TinyCat at a different LibraryThing or vice versa. You can choose to have some collections on LT that are not shown on TinyCat (this is useful for things like wishlists, or de-accessioned books), but not completely separate catalogs. I hope the name change gets you what you need!

>10 lorax: Thanks. As long as the URL can be changed to my church name, I'll be happy. Push comes to shove, I will just have to start all over.

You shouldn't have to do that! Your username, Tinycat name, and URL will all change together - it's not an automated process, so it might take them awhile.

>10 lorax: Thanks for explaining that. With that in mind, I might start using TinyCat after all.

I was out sick for a couple of days, otherwise I would have chimed in sooner, but the veterans of the group have explained this well.

Yes, changing your username is the solution you wanted, >1 FaithWayPlainwell:, and it will change the URL showing up on your TinyCat catalog! Your TinyCat catalog and LibraryThing catalog both include your account username at the tail end.

As far as username change requests, we (LT staff) usually run those changes every weekday (excluding holidays, etc.). Hope this helps.
