I'm in. Still in sunny California for another week.
Still reading The Boat People by Sharon Bala.
And LOTS of kid's books to the 2 & 5 year olds.

I'm in- I am reading Trickster Drift by Eden Robinson- the second novel in her trilogy about Jared Martin-a teenager wise beyond his years as he deals with his mother ( who is a witch) and other assorted relatives with their own powers.

I'm in again. The county fair is about over and I will be at home for the weekend. I am now reading Deadly Wandering by Matt Richtel and hope to finish it this weekend. This is a really good book about Distracted Driving and why it happens.

Count me in again. I'm reading The Verge: Reformation, Renaissance, and Forty Years that Shook the World and have a big stack of holds to pick up at the library tomorrow.

Sunday 5.45 pm
Sorry not to have checked in earlier. I haven't finished anything yet but hope to finish at least one book tonight, and perhaps another one or two tomorrow.
Books read from: 10
Kaitlyn Greenidge, Libertie
Kristin Hannah, The Four Winds
Lyndsay Faye, Seven For a Secret
Michelle Magorian, Goodnight Mister Tom
Margery Sharp, The Eye of Love
Zakiya Dalila Harris, The Other Black Girl
David Downing, Wedding Station
Sinead Gleeson (editor), The Long Gaze Back: An Anthology of Irish Women Writers
Lee Horsley, Twentieth-Century Crime Fiction
Francis Spufford, Golden Hill
Pages read: 242
Books finished: 0
Snacks: Crisps and chocolate, baguette and salami, lots of cups of tea
Book related activities: Browsing a very large batch of Kindle offers on Friday night/Saturday morning, in addition to daily and monthly deals. Recording a few new acquisitions on LT and Goodreads.
Non-book activities: TV and radio, Bejeweled Blitz, social media, online shopping/browsing - I need to return and find some new clothes, particularly skirts - I have some tshirts and cardis/shawls that are in good condition but some of my other clothes are very holey and ragged. I'd like to be able to scroll through with less pop-ups though, the amount of time I spent trying to close things down so I could see what I was looking at.
I have acquired a new case for my glasses so that I can carry them rather than going out with them pushed up on my head (I'm sick of losing hair that is getting caught on the hit between the lenses!) and also an extra pair of non-prescription glasses which have surprised me with how useful they are. My proper glasses are now 8 years old and I'm sure I need a stronger pair. They are better for computer use but the other reading glasses are much better for magnifying print on paper and my Kindle screen - it's a revelation!

I'm now going to run a bath and do a couple of other things but am hoping to finish The Four Winds tonight (53 pages to go).

Sunday afternoon update
Books reading from: I am listening to Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. I am deep into reading my nonfiction book Deadly Wandering by Matt Richtel. This one is for the Nonfiction Challenge on LT. The August topic is Transportation and this book is about inattentive driving. I also started Last of the Wine by Mary Renault
Books finished in the last two Weeks: Deal With the Devil by Kit Rocha. this one was a fun book that I picked up at the library and decided to take the time to read. It is the first book in the planned Mercenary Librarians series.
Time reading today: 1 hour
Time posting: just started
Food: I am in the middle of baking a cholate zucchini cake.
Thoughts: Deadly Wandering is really good. I didn't expect to find it so much fun to read.
Non-book activities: I attended the country fair several times and meetup with a woman who graduated from high school with me and became a public librarian. She is now retired but I had a great time talking with her. Also met up with another high school chum.
Total books finished since the read-a-thon began: 148
Total time reading for the Read-A-Thon since the Social Distancing read-a-thon began: 409 hours since April 2020.
