I'm Laura, currently living in Philadelphia USA with husband Chris, our two dogs, and a cat. I've been a knitter since 2012, inspired by my daughter who had recently learned to knit and was having so much fun with it. I learned the basics through 1-on-1 instruction at my local yarn shop and was off to the races. At various times in my life I've also done sewing, cross-stitch, and needlepoint.

I read books, too. 😀 You can follow my reading in the 75 Books Challenge Group. A link to my current thread can be found on my profile page.

I'm Betty. I live in Wakefield, RI with my husband Pete. This is an old picture when we were at our old house. The dog in the picture is our border collie Gracie who we lost 4 years ago (old age) Over the course of my life, I've done knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, counted cross stitch, and now I quilt.

My reading takes place in the Category Challenge Group.

Hi, I'm Lois from southern New Hampshire, but a Mainer by birth. I've been on LT since fall of 2006 (it was supposed to help me cope leaving a long-time job at a bookstore where I did all the adult events, newsletters, and other promotional stuff; and I suppose it has). My greatest claims to fame here on LT is that I started the Reading Globally group in 2006 (others keep it going now) and the first Club Read in 2009 and several more years of it since including this year's incarnation. I used to belong to a lot of groups but over the years I've pared that list down.

I mostly sew now, mostly quilting. The list of what I have done in the past is lengthy. I'm a bit of a fabric addict these days.

These days my other activities are reading, of course; gardening, and Ancestry.com. Just before the pandemic I had planned start a genealogy group at one of the local libraries, and was headed back to resume volunteering in the New England Quilt Museum's library and assist the group of volunteers doing Massachusetts quilt documentation (you know, you bring your old quilts in and we take pics and document them) but then there was Covid....

I'll shut up now.

Hi, I'm Lesli. I am a born and bred Texan (though I lived in IL for 5.5 yrs). I have a cat (Princess Cinnamon Boots) and a dog (Crickett aka Captain SassyPants). I mostly piece quilts, do some actual quilting, and rarely sew clothes. I exclusively use a domestic machine. Over the years, I've tried crochet, paper crafts (both handmade paper and scrapbooking), embroidery, cross-stitch, latch-hook, and probably a handful of other crafty things that I've forgotten. I'm willing to at least take a class and/or try a project in a craft I've never done or swore I'd never pick up.

Hi, I'm Amanda. I currently live in Memphis with my husband. We travel a lot but when I'm home I love to craft. I have a little studio for everything from quilling to quilting. I also like to read cozy mysteries with crafts themes.

Hi everyone! I'm PawsforThought, and go by that or the shorter version Paws here on LT. I'm one of the administrators for the group so if you have any questions or comments feel free to contact me.

I live in northern Sweden where it is currently pretty cold (even by my standards) and very snowy, which I'm happy about but it does require warmer clothes so my project list is reflecting that with multiple pairs of woolly socks, wrist warmers and other knitted goods.
I fairly recently returned to fiber arts/needle arts after not really doing anything for several years. Most of what I do is utility based (liked the socks and wrist warmers mentioned above) and I primarily knit and sew but occasionally delve into other related areas like the odd crocheted work or an upcoming planned felting project.

I lost my job in December so most of my time is currently dedicated to fixing that, but when I have free time I like reading Golden Age mysteries, classics, children's books and fantasy novels.
I have a cat called Tiger, who is usually just referred to as "Kitty" and who is getting old and grey but still likes to "help out".

And I can't deny that I'm a bit younger - that's the best of both worlds, isn't it? Someone with more experience, both generally and in the group, and someone a bit younger who can be trained up. ;)

I'm Amber, I've been a member of this group since 2008 and I've been sewing since I was a kid. I'm a one-time Classics professor, turned stay-at-home parent/lady of leisure, turned part-time library assistant, turned once again Classics professor. I spend my free time sewing, knitting, cross stitching, writing, baking, and, of course, reading. I live in Ohio with my husband, Tomm, our 12yo son, Charlie, and our Golden Retriever, Mario. I'm Lori. I have a very neglected thread here because I haven't been cross-stitching or rug hooking lately. I finished a project last year and began another, but I've got so many irons in the fire, I don't have time for everything. I keep a project out, and I do hope to get back to it soon.

I love lurking and seeing what everyone else is making. I wish I could do some of the others, but I can't seem to get the hang of crochet and knitting appears hopeless to me.

I do love cross-stitch and just ordered a piece of discontinued fabric from an Etsy source that still had some on hand. (The pattern only appeared last spring in my cross-stitch magazine so I was surprised to discover it was discontinued.) I still need to check the stash, but I think I have most of the fibers on hand.

Hi, I'm Melannen/Mel! Long time LT user, new to this group - I mostly stuck to the directly LT- and book- related groups until recently, but I needed a break from books after a multi-year recataloging project that's about to turn into a library move. I'm from Maryland, USA, and I'm about PawsForThought's age :)

I am known to crochet, knit, needlebind, do various kinds of braiding/narrowwork, spin on a drop-spindle, hand-sew, machine-sew, hand-quilt, do cross-stitch, other counted stitch and free embroidery, card-weave and needle-felt, but none of them particularly well. :D

(For the past month though I've mostly been playing Minecraft, which has surprisingly little fiber arts despite wool and dyeing being major parts of the game. You can't even turn wool into string!)

I’m Rhian. I’ve been on LT since about 2012 I think, and I’ve been a member of the 75 Book Challenge consistently since that time. This year I’ve joined Club Read as well. I live in England, just north of London, with my husband and grown-up son (when he’s not at university) and dog. I retired at the end of January and one of my main objectives for my retirement is to do more crafting. At the moment the other objectives are to travel, possibly do an MA in English Literature, read lots and campaign on environmental issues. Obviously the travel isn’t happening at the moment.

At the moment I’m focusing on learning to crochet.

Hi, I'm Judy from Melbourne Australia. I've been a member of LT since 2007, but haven't been very active for a few years now. But Lois piqued my interest with a comment on FB, so here I am again. I have always enjoyed knitting and cross stitch, and sewed my own clothes when I was young, but I took up patchwork / quilting about 6-7 years ago and have loved it ever since. I now have a 3yo granddaughter so her wardrobe is full of things I have made for her. During our lengthy lockdown last year, I also decided to reteach myself crochet, so I got back into that as well. Apart from all of that, I enjoy making cards and have a love/hate relationship with scrapbooking. I also enjoy the odd jigsaw puzzle (the bigger, the better), baking with the 3yo and of course, reading.

Yay! It worked, she's back!

Hi everyone. I'm Audrey from Scotland orginally but just moving this week to the Lake District in England. I'm a school librarian and love cross stitch. That makes me such a nerd ! I have cross stitched from very young, as couldn't pick up knitting from my left handed Gran. I'm not an avid stitcher, more of a collector of stash, but I'm determined to do more this year. And I love historical needlework. I was gifted a couple of chatelaines for my 50th birthday last year. And my husband had a custom made chatelaine necklace too. So I'm a stitchy nerd as well !

Hi, I'm Robin and I've been on LT for about 11 years and am just now finding this group. I haven't been very active on LT in the past 18 months or so but am trying to engage more. I have been sewing and cross-stitching since elementary school on and off (50 years ago!). I also learned to knit back then but have done most of my knitting in the last 5 years. I also make beaded jewelry and received a Cricut machine for Christmas last year (and haven't done much with it yet.)

My name is Leona and I live in Minnesota; born in California and raised in Texas (Monahans). I like to crochet, do genealogy, cross stitch and do embroidery. I am on LibraryThing and Goodreads and plan to read more books this year. I finally made it to Egypt and returned last week. In Texas (Ausitn area) I owned a travel agency and got to travel a lot. I am a mother grandmother, and great grandmother. My husband has passed. I like reading the message boards to see what members are reading and their crafts.

Hi I'm Barb. Honestly I don't know if I'll keep up with this group because following groups on LT and other places is overtaking my life. But I thought if I jumped in here, I would be inspired to pick up my needle again.

My needlearts history: I was a sewer (sewist) all my life. I made many garments, learned tailoring, etc. I was reasonably good, but not exceptional in my craft. What I loved was the fabric. In 1991 I purchased a going concern which was at that time a mail order fabric retailer. For the next 24 years, I captained the ship taking the business online in 1996. I lived my dream working with fine fabrics every day. Our customer base was made up of fabulously talented home sewists and custom dressmakers and tailors. I had many talented staff members that became life-long friends. I sold the business in 2015 and retired to attend to family.

I learned to cross stitch in the 80's when my kids were young. I let that hobby slip for a bit, but the longer I was in the fabric business, the less I personally sewed. So cross stitch became my needle relaxation. In the past few years I have let that slip again as I ramped up my reading hobby. I always have a project in process (or several), but honestly when I sit to relax in the evening, the book wins out most of the time.

So I will follow along for a bit and see if the bug bits me again! Looking forward to being stimulated by your creativity!

I'm new and kind of shy and introverted ... except when it comes to fiber related topics.

I am minervasowl over on Ravelry. Minerva is the cat. (Well, was. We said goodbye 2/1/2020.) I put everything in her name online.

I live in southern New Hampshire, transplanted about 25 years ago by choice from St. Louis, Missouri.

I had an LT account many years ago, but I deleted it in a big online account purge. I don't do too well with social media. It starts out fun and then seems to deteriorate until it is stressful to just log into an account because who knows what news or issues have made it into my Instagram feed of sheep and yarn or my book Twitter feed. So I am coming back to LT.

I knit, spin (on a wheel rather than a spindle), and weave on different kinds of looms -- so far inkle loom, rigid heddle loom, and pin loom. These days I mostly knit socks. They are my anti-anxiety activity. I knit sweaters, too, and big Pi blankets.

I was laid off from my software support tech job at the end of last April. I took some time off to rest and recover, and now I am working on earning a Salesforce certification.

I am looking forward to checking out everyone's projects.

I look forward to seeing what projects you come up with. I'm a knitter too, though not doing much at the moment. When it comes to weaving I just admire the works of other in awe.

This is a friendly group that does not see much drama other than some of us fretting over what we should do next and how many half-finished projects are lying around.

I volunteered at a museum when we had an area using natural fibers. I could never learn how to use the spinning wheel, but my daughter did. I did learn the spindle. What do you spin?

Hi there, I thought I would pop in an do an introduction even though this thread has not been used for a few months. Hopefully that's okay.
My name is Sara and I live in southern New Mexico. I grew up doing sewing and embroidery. These days I don't sew garments very often. I mostly knit, quilt, make stuffed toys and recently took up weaving on a rigid heddle loom. I am currently volunteering at our local Maker's Center running the textile room where I teach safety classes and clean/maintain the machines.
I would love to share some pictures except I have no idea how.
Looking forward to what you all make in 2023.

My LT name is LyndaInOregon, and I do have a thread in the 75 Books Challenge, as well as lots of reviews of books read. I'm an avid knitter as well as a voracious reader. My only problem is trying to figure out how to do both at once!

Current project on the needles is a pullover with colorwork yoke. The fun part is done and now for the boring stockinette stitch body!

I just friended you on Ravelry, and took a peek at your projects. "Recoleta" and "Avix" are both in my favorites folder!

I usually work to the end of the first skein after separating the sleeve stitches, then put the body on waste yarn and work the sleeves. It means less fabric flopping around in my lap while I'm doing the sleeves. Technically, you're going to end up with the same amount of weight on the needles by the time you get to the end of the sweater, but if you knit the sleeves first, the "end of the sweater" will be done on a longer circular needle than you used on the sleeves, so the weight is distributed more evenly.

I've been watching this group for a while, and decided I should really join it. I'm a knitter, on and off, since I was a teen (many years ago). I especially like sweaters and knitting with wool. Omigosh! I just found this group! Two of my favorite things, books and needlecrafts! This is heaven. 😁🎉

I live in the Seattle area with my partner and three dogs; I’ve been a cross-stitcher for decades, have recently started exploring blackwork embroidery, and have discovered the joys of stitch-alongs. Biggest problem is having enough hours in the day!

I’ve been obsessively organizing my LT library for the past month, but when I finish up with that (and the end is in sight), I’ll return to stitching more while listening to audiobooks. I often refer to myself as a “digital hoarder”, and both books and stitching patterns are very conducive to hoarding digitally because (practically speaking) they take up no room, so I’m not likely to ever run out!

I’m Madeline from Rockville, Maryland. I see many names I remember here from all my years on LT, beginning in 2006! Has it really been that long?!

I’ve dabbled in all sorts of needlework, though have mastered none. I like machine/sewing, cross stitch, tried quilting once, crochet, knitting and embroidery. I’ve done beaded necklaces and beaded earrings. Now all I do is scroll on my computer and phone. I thought some needlecraft would do me good, so here I am! :)

Hello old friends and new faces. I was active here prior to 2020 but personal circumstances drew me away until this year.

I'm Meredith, from West Virginia (Charleston, for those in surrounding states), USA. I'm disabled and can't work a regular job, so spend most of my time reading and previously spent hours a day on cross-stitch and knitting. My parents' deaths have made it very hard to craft, but I'm trying to get back to it. Otherwise, I do a fair bit of cooking, and let myself get pushed around by my cat.

Welcome back. I like to read and cross-stitch and cuddle with my cats, but I still work. So lots of similarities. I just lost my Dad too, and that is draining some of my motivation. I just keep saying to myself, as Dory in Finding Nemo, "Just keep swimming." It reminds me to keep trying no matter what the circumstances.
