As stay-at-home restrictions are loosened around the world and bookstores and libraries are re-opened, what newly accessible 1001-books are you reading?

I'm sure you'll be surprised to hear I am still reading Anniversaries: From a Year in the Life of Gesine Cresspahl (only 3 months left!). I've also got The Living and the Dead on the go and will start The Graduate.

I'm planning to read Love Medicine with the group read this month. I'll probably start it in a few days.

This is the first day my library is open for curbside pickup only. It's been completely closed since mid-March.

I got side-tracked into reading Northanger Abbey for my local reading group, when really I am supposed to be reading The Ambassadors in preparation for next month's group read here. I started Ambassadors but my copy had such small print, for such long paragraphs uninterrupted by dialogue, that I just could not handle it. So I ordered a Penguin edition with larger print. Will restart as soon as I leave the Abbey!

I have finished Queen Margot by Alexandre Dumas, a group read for May at the Category Challenge and now I am picking up this month's group read, Love Medicine. I am also hoping to read both Summer by Edith Wharton and The Passion of New Eve by Angela Carter, but I may not get to both of them.

>5 DeltaQueen50: I'll be very interested in what you think of The Passion of New Eve!

I'll be starting Deep Rivers by Jose Maria Arguedas next.

I am listening to Song of Solomon by Toni Morrison. When she died last year I promised myself that I would read more of her books and this time with all the anit-racist demos seemed like a good time. It is read by Morrison herself and her delivery is wonderful. By coincidence PBS had a documentary about Morrison on this week which I watched. Now I am even more impressed by this woman.

I'm reading Madame Bovary and enjoying it so far!

>6 LisaMorr: Unfortunately, I didn't get to The Passion of New Eve this month so it's gone back on the shelf for now. :(
